Apartments are more preferred by more families since, unlike the condos, leasing or buying condominiums are offered in a higher rate. But in apartments, one’s practicality is seriously considered. It can be rented in a lower rate and it is applicable to those who can’t afford to spend a larger percent of their paychecks for shelter. Aparment prices really depends on how big the space is but commonly they usually size the apartment just enough for a family consisting of 5 members, the typica; family setting nowadays. Choose an apartment that really suits you. It is one way of compensating the worth of what you have paid. Also, pick an apartment that will offer you enough space for you, if you are just alone, or for your family. The location of the apartment is also a big factor to consider. If the place where you are living is safe and also the area that surrounds it.

Not everyone should buy a home. While most folks appreciate the stability in having their own real estate, some others are better geared towards renting or leasing, instead.

For instance, if you have a bad credit rating or credit report, then you’re not going to get a good interest rate on a home loan. If your FICO score is below 620, for instance, you would practically have to settle for interest rates by predatory lenders, which is not good.

If this is the case, fix your credit score first before applying for a loan! A few late payments are usually enough to have you disqualified from a loan, so watch out!

Also, if you have a high debt ratio, it might be best to lease or rent instead of going for a new loan. Consider your mortgage payment, plus taxes, divided by your monthly salary. And add that to your monthly debt payments, divided by your salary. A 50% debt ratio is high, and should make you reconsider going for that loan!

condos.jpgIf you have made a payment on reservations for a condominium complex that has had a stoppage of new unit construction, and has less than 25% occupancy, consider bailing out. There might be a problem with the developer and the lack of continuing sales of units may be a sign of a forthcoming raise in the payments needed to maintain or get your unit. If you have already moved in, then get in touch with your broker and developer to get the latest information regarding the problem. The longer a property gets fully occupied, the more likely the owners would be raising rent/prices due to the need for financial resources to maintain the unoccupied units. There may also be some unknown finding such as problems with the building, codes, zoning etc. so be involved so you don’t get surprises.

absoluteaptsfeb2.jpgPeople want a more relaxed environment when they do go on their vacations. Some do it on a yearly basis, some on a preset time period (say every 3 or 5 years) but whichever the case, all of them want hassle free accommodations that do not cost much giving them more money to spend on other leisurely pursuits. Apartments can be rented instead of condos and hotels for it takes away the hustle and bustle of living in a box and kind of brings you to a home rather than a place to sleep in. Some of the best apartments for rent in tourist destinations have the best access to the beach for example, or are quite hidden from the fast paced live they aim to leave behind, tucked away amongst the trees and hidden grottos. You get privacy and a vacation at your pace (no one knocking at your door to tell you they have to change the sheets or do some maintenance)

You can cook your own food and buy them at the local markets making the experience more personal for your get an insight into the culture of the place. Get to know locals and get to know them and how they live better. After a good day of touring, you get home to your own private place with no interruptions.

rentinsure.jpgThis might entail additional cost, but it offers protection for your personal property whether you may be renting from a homeowner, property manager or University Dorm. The building itself is insured by the owner against damages such as fire, vandalism and natural disasters but these policies do not cover your (renter’s) personal belongings. Your own renters insurance also protects you from harm that may be caused by other tenants. Some property renters require this as a prerequisite to renting their property which is normally included in your contract. Renters insurance comes in the standard form and with additional coverage options which also carry additional costs so measure up your needs and financial status to get the best of the two worlds.

The truth is, of all the parts of the house, the bathroom is the culprit when it comes to high water bills. It makes sense though, because this is the place where most of the faucets and other water outlets are found. If you have leaks of perhaps, your water closet is busted, make sure you have it checked by your local plumber immediately. Also, do not throw tissue paper in the toilet bowl. Another tip is for you to minimize your shower time. You don’t need to spend an hour in the shower just to get rid of the day’s dirt. You can do it in less than 15 minutes (5 – 10 is the ideal time).

If you live in an apartment, alone, and your water bill skyrockets every month, better have all your pipes checked. If the plumber didn’t find any leaks, then maybe there’s something wrong with your consumption.

In the kitchen, if you’re washing the dishes, don’t leave the faucet running. Also, maximize the capacity of your dishwasher. You wouldn’t want to run the dishwasher with only 4 dishes inside, do you? That would be a total waste of resources. What you can do is get a sponge and wash the dishes manually. This is another form of exercise.

Lastly, your room should be something private. It should only be shared by the both of you. If your room mate gets a little off hand and invites his or her girl/boyfriend over, maybe once or twice is ok. They can even have dinner at your place or maybe, the girl/boyfriend can even stay over the night. However, if your room mate does this all the time, then better get to your senses. Your room is not a dating place. If you find your privacy violated, then better tell your room mate face to face. Tell them to go elsewhere if you cannot anymore find some alone time. Privacy is something precious.

If you think messy rooms and delayed payment for bills and rental are tolerable for you, then the next room mate problem might make you change your mind.

Your things and your room mate’s are mixed. There is a high tendency that he or she will meddle with yours. Also, if your room mate gets a little complacent with you, chances are, he or she might borrow your things without permission. For example, if your room mate ran out of perfume and he or she needs it for the night, your room mate can just get yours without asking from you first. Watch out!
